Freekey Zekey – Book Of Ezekiel (7-24-2007)
Posted on Jul 24 in Reviewsby adminPrint

Cam’Ron grabs the reigns on Freeky’s opening effort “Daddy Back” by spitting about somebody’s baby mama swallowing, and not spitting. Hell Rell and JR Writer lend some of the disc’s best assistance on the bullet riddled Spectacular produced “Shoot Em Up”. Freekey finds the album’s pinnacle with the nostalgically DA helmed gem “Like This” where Sen lays down a smooth Max B like hook over a tasty soul sampler. Both Juelz Santana and Freekey lay down very forgettable 16’s on the slow grooving and eerie warning shot “Killem Killem”. Freekey dedicates one strictly to the smokers on “Where The Dutch” where he playfully sets up a perfect illustration of what life is like before, during, and after the blunt. The Firemen’s board work on “Fly Fitted” sounds incredibly reminiscent of Swizz Beatz circa 1999. Producer Ash recycles a sample from a previous Dipset release on the somber drenched testament to the dope game on “Streets”. The album closes out with the typical Dipset sound equipped with a sped up soul sample and low deep bass lines on the tell all “My Life”.
The end result of Freekey Zeekey’s debut album is a rushed and ill scripted product. The only shining factors on Book Of Ezekiel are the three sort of funny skits and the sometimes ok production. Lyrically Freekey is still laps behind most of his Dipset counterparts but conceptually he seems to be up to speed. For most individuals the first time out of prison usually means good sales, let’s just hope for Freekey’s sake that the lack of acclaim he receives from this one won’t prompt him to go back to the streets to only end up doing basketball numbers!
