Kentucky Colonel

A few weeks ago my good friend and business associate Sean Stafford asked me if I wanted a Kentucky flag. Of course with most things political things getting our flags proved to be a little more tedious than we anticipated with certain political offices giving us the run around while other just gave us a [...]

I was told today that I needed to post something about some beef shit between Ice-t and Soulja Boy. Contrary to popular belief I never liked Ice-T on his records, I didn’t like Ice-T in New Jack City, and I damn sure don’t like Ice-T in CSI, or whatever cop show he’s on. Now I know this comes as no surprise but I damn sure don’t like Soulja Boy either. His music is garbage, his swagger aint shit, and yes his music is really garbage. But for the sake of this bullshit beef I think I’m gonna go with Soulja Boy. No he isn’t fuckin up hip hop, hip hop is fuckin up hip hop.

It’s all just a business and people entering the game these days are all about the quickest turn around. Don’t get me wrong I love seeing young affluent people getting their money but now our culture is about nothing more than acting like and talking about shit that most of us will never have because we truly believe that grinding is standing on the corner going hand to hand all day. Russel Simmons grinded, Master P grinded, Sean “Puff Daddy – P. Diddy – Just Diddy – Poppa Puff Crunch” Combs grinded.

We are way too influenced by the shit that we see on TV that we are too afraid to innovate and come up with some new ideas. My uncle always tells me that I would’ve been better of if I would have come up in his days of hip hop. A large part of me feels like I did and man am I glad that I won’t have to die thinking that some shit like “Crank That Soulja Boy”, “This Is Why I’m Hot”, and “Ima Do Me” are some for real good ass music.

This shit is making me so emotional writing this right now that I think I might just give up on hip hop sort of like Byron Crawford. You might come back tomorrow and see the new Coldplay shit plastered all over the place. I know that things must change over time but damn whatever happened to songs like “Dear Momma” or “Never Seen A Man Cry” getting spins on the radio?

Maybe these kids are just dumb these days. I mean don’t get it twisted we did some pretty dumb shit back in my day a couple of years ago, but we never fucked up the music. Honestly I don’t know what the fuck I wrote this post for, this shit is seriously more pointless than that 50 Cent versus Cam’Ron shit from early last year. Oh yea, the point was that I came across this youtube video on fat boy’s blog and I jacked it because I thought it was pretty funny. Check it out!

Damn and I just thought about it; I read somewhere earlier today that Detox might actually see the light of day. I know that these release rumors got old a long time ago but after The Chronic and Chronic 2001 it’s definitely worth the emotional turmoil. Just the thought that Dre might bless us with just one more makes everything ok. On top of that word is that he might be producing Snoop’s entire next album. Shit that makes me think that he can finally have the chance to complete what he started with Doggystyle because any true rap head knows how shitty all of Snoop’ s albums are compared to Doggystyle
