Kentucky Colonel

A few weeks ago my good friend and business associate Sean Stafford asked me if I wanted a Kentucky flag. Of course with most things political things getting our flags proved to be a little more tedious than we anticipated with certain political offices giving us the run around while other just gave us a [...]

When I first heard of the Gambino Family I thought it was actually a two-man crew but by the time their debut album Ghetto Organized dropped in 1998 they multiplied into a four-man tantrum. The first two members Lil Gotti and Pheno seemed like they had some potential based on their early features but the two newer members Reginelli and Melchoir seemed a little untested.

Master P, Mia X, Fiend, and C-Murder take over the opening act “I’m A Baller” where only two members of the Gambino Family actually gets the chance to spit on the KLC engineered effort. The album’s highlight occurs when the foursome spit about tumultuous life in the swampy New Orleans streets on the Mo B Dick produced “Ghetto Wayz.” The group continues on the hood pain path with the Magic and 2-4-1 assisted “So Much Drama.” On “Memories” the Gambino’s take a trick back in time to acknowledge the legacy of those they’ve lost over the years over a top notch production effort courtesy of Carlos.

This is another one of those albums that I didn’t listen to until 2008. After my first listen I must say that I’m not too impressed by the effort. A couple of the beats were pretty tight but the overall product is pretty weak. The main flaw here is the fact that you really can’t get familiar enough with members to distinguish them one from another.
