Prime Suspects – Guilty Til Proven Innocent (10-6-1998)
Posted on Dec 16 in Rapaveli Retroby adminPrint

I never really got into the Prime Suspects too much. As a matter of fact I didn’t even listen to their debut album Guilty Til Proven Innocent until this year. After a ten year tardy on the task I must say that I was somewhat satisfied with the outcome. I would love to deliberate more on the history of Skinew, E, and Gangsta T but from my calculations they really didn’t do much of shit after this album.
Craig B laces the opening foundation as Master P, E, Skinew, and Gangsta T eacg pledge allegiance to the tank on “All 4 One.” The Prime Suspects speak from the perspective of young, misguided, and aggravated New Orleans street hustlers on the C-Murder assisted “Of All Da Hustlers.” Snoop Dogg and Fiend each make a cameo on the gritty “My Old Lady” where the five soldiers spoke on the ups and downs of each of their relationships with coke. KLC laces the album’s coldest heat on the likes of “We Gots To Do Em,” “Consequences Of The Streets,” and “Daily Routine.” The album closes out with the Mo B Dick powered “Children Of The Corn.”
Twenty tracks seems like a little much for three dudes who really couldn’t rap for shit. Though the album turns out to be pretty lengthy the production from Beats By The Pound is surprisingly on point. The fourth quarter of 98’ wasn’t really a good one for the tank and unfortunately this album was the beginning of the demise.
