Along with Big Ed and Snoop Dogg, Steady Mobb’n were a few of the other artist who hailed from the west coast. They released their debut effort Pre-Meditated Drama in early 1997. I didn’t get into this album when it first came out basically because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Bavgate or Crooked Alfonso.
Master P steps outside of his role as the executive as he laces Bavgate and Crooked Alfonso with a sticky west coast backdrop on the album’s first pleasing effort “Still Hustlin.” C-Murder links up with the west coast No limit affiliates on the antagonizing “When Them Killas Call.” The Craig B helmed “Papa Didn’t Raise No Punks offers another quality linking between the Oakland natives and C-Murder.
Carlos Stephens and O’Dell combine on the production ticket for the sentimental and emotional twisting “Carry On.” Snoop Dogg laces the Cali boys with some lyrical heat on both of the album’s standout party joints, “Light Green And Remmy” as well as the “The Message” inspired “Turn Me Up.”
After listening to this album in its entirety for the first time I am a little impressed with a few of the cuts. This is definitely one of the more lazy efforts that the tank just seemed to throw together. Many of the features are what carried this album to a point worth listening to.
