The one that really caught my attention was that Obsessed shit dropping this spring. It’s basically about some white chick and a black guy… well since we all know where this one goes. Jail or court, take your pick! WRONG, this one actually seems to have a storyline behind it. As it looks to turn out the white chick is somewhat psychotic… then again this really shouldn’t be a storyline these days. Black dudes like me deal with that shit everyday. What’s up Kobe Bryant?
The last preview was for the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine flick which to my calculations should be the shit. If you don’t believe me I took the time to edit in a youtube shot of the preview for your viewing pleasures. As a kid Wolverine was always my favorite character. The advantage now is that I don’t have to let my big cousin beat my ass with X-Men moves after the movie goes off. So enough about the previews, lets get to the main attraction!
Notorious, the biopic tale about the late great Christopher Wallace takes a deep look into the events, struggles, and people who influenced his great body of work. Several key points in the film hint at being the inspirational points for some of Biggie’s greatest songs. For those who closely followed Biggie’s career some of the scenes can be easily predicted. Such is the case with the anti-climatic car accident with Lil Cease and the rift between Biggie and Faith over the 2Pac picture. The film magnificently offers a more precise glimpse into the relationships that Biggie shared with 2Pac as well as well as Faith Evans.
Though his relationships with Puffy and Ms. Wallace are obviously more important, the ones he shared with Pac and Faith seemed to have a closer connection to his untimely death. The film’s portrayal of 2Pac might seem to be somewhat over the top and outrageous but based on the consensus perception of diss records such as “Hit Em Up” and “Blast First (My Second Reply)” he was obviously an individual who found it hard to talk things over.
If you have yet to see Notorious you might want to confer with the massive number of Americans who contributed to it’s $21.5 million opening weekend sales figures about how the film was. Of course by now you’re probably aware of the incidents that took place in New York and North Carolina. The theaters were obviously aware of the shit they’d get themselves into if they played this film at high volumes. However, across the country Notorious finished fourth in overall box office sales but had the highest per screen average at $13,126 per. You do the math!
