Capone-N-Noreaga – Channel 10 (3-17-2009)

The album starts on a great note as the two rhyme partners profess their allegiance to one another on “United We Stand” then Ron Browz comes through with his annoying ass opening signature on the Busta Rhymes assisted “Rotate.” Outside of the lame hook by Ron the aforementioned track turns out to be rather enjoyable. Capone-N-Noreaga use both “Talk To Me Big Time” and “Bring It Here” to trade bars with each other as they antagonize the entire rap game. The legendary DJ Premier laces one of the album’s hottest track “Grand Royal” while CNN proceeds to wreck the joint in classic NY fashion.
The Hazardis Soundz produced “The Argument” will definitely make you laugh as the two MCs pledge their allegiance to each other while taking personal brother like jabs at one another. Havoc lends his thunderous drums as he and Prodigy hold down a solid chunk of the tracks time alongside CNN on “Wobble.” The album’s title track quickly becomes CNN’s anthem as the two upstate MCs shed light on what’s been going on with them since their last release.
Both Capone-N-Noreaga get extra grimy as they double-team a few unsuspecting victims on the Alienz produced “The Stick Up.” “My Hood” turns into a star studded hip hop affair as CNN enlists everyone from The Clipse to Maino, Uncle Murda, and even one time rival duo Tha Dogg Pound. The Alchemist is sure to keep listeners on their toes, as his production credit on “Follow The Dollar” is one to be reckoned with for years to come. “Follow The Dollar” features a stellar go-getter mentality from Capone-N-Noreaga.
Channel 10 will not be a commercially sought after product in today’s rap climate but it definitely mirrors the consistency of the duos two previous attempts. Even after a decade plus in the game both Capone-N-Noreaga still display a true passion for the streets. Of course there are a few production along with creativity lapses throughout this album but in the end it should satisfy fans of their previous work at the very least.
