Making a good name for oneself on the Roc-A-Fella imprint just a few years ago would have been an impossible feat for most rappers in the game today. For Philadelphia’s Freeway the feat was nothing more than a blemish over the course of his up and down career. With his prospects now looking better than ever Freeway attempts to build up some momentum for his upcoming project with Jake One with his current effort, Philadelphia Freeway 2

Freeway shows a superior level of comfort as he lyrically murders the horn heavy opener “Finally Free” spitting lines like “when you’re in it be in for the full duration / fuck waitin.” Freeway lyrically shreds his way through the 90’s reminiscent basslines on “Hands Up.” The track takes a turn for the better as Sheek Louch shows up for the remix on “Keep Your Hands Up.”

On the Reagan era inspired “Crack Rap” Free speaks on how involved his life has been in the dope game making references to his uncle’s habitsOn “It Was a Good Day” Free gives a much needed face lift to Ice Cube’s super classic “It Was A Good Day” but adds an all original New York vibe to it. Freeway takes things to a NASA like level on the mood changing “Streets Won’t Miss Em.”

Philadelphia Freeway 2 finds Free spitting at his highest levels yet. Though it may not be his best effort to date it still displays an artist hungry for the limelight, shine, and paper that he has been due for some time now. With the economy still in major distress The Stimulus Package might just be what the game and the rest of the world!
