Although its been just over ten years since Master P monopolized the rap industry with his No Limit imprint he still proves to be one of the most savvy entrepreneurs to ever grace the game. Yesterday the colonel made his way to my hometown, Louisville, KY, to chop it up with DJ E-Feezy and a couple of other cats. The topics ranged from old business to new business to Michael Jackson (of course) and even the fate of some ex-No Limit Soldiers.
Throughout the conversation things got a little tense at times as P shows some of his true inner and ambitious emotions. P speaks vividly of his days growing up in the notorious Caliope projects as well as the importance of teaching children how to take the right course of action throughout life. He also takes some time to explain why he isn’t quick to bail his brother out of his legal situation and also why he doesn’t take the time to encourage grown men.
Some might judge Master P only by the content of his past lyrics. Few will see the differences that he’s made in not only his personal life but also the ones he’s managed to make in other people’s lives. As a growing business owner myself I can’t stress how important that the business model that Master P laid out is for myself. Right now I’m balls deep in trying to develop a marketing strategy close to the one that he used to monopolize the industry between 1996 and 1999.
Of course I won’t be selling any records or toy dolls. My thing is the internet hustle, grind, game, or business depending on how you look at it. The one thing that I always noticed was how he would cross promote all of his artist. These were the days before mixtapes so the only way that you heard of a new artist was either if they put out a smash single or if they were on somebody else’s track. Master P managed to break new artist by simply featuring them on other albums released by himself and other No Limit artist.
Right now my objective is to build compelling websites with compelling content and attractive features. Through these sites I want to acquire business from other young entrepreneurs who want an outlet for themselves as well. Within the next three years I am looking to own one of the most powerful, consistent, and dominant internet marketing companies in the Midwest. From there I will attempt to take on the entire country. After that the world will be in my scope. Sometimes I sit and wonder if it weren’t for an individual such as Master P would I really realize that there really is No Limit to the things you can do if you put your mind to it!
